Jose Bowen, president of Goucher College comments on the new learning economy, and how technology has changed our relationship to knowledge.
Goucher College President José Antonio Bowen is a pioneer of innovative teaching methods andhas worked at leading colleges around the country. He has taught at Stanford and Georgetown,and was Dean of the Meadows School of Arts at Southern Methodist University.
Bowen is the author of the award-winning book Teaching Naked: How Moving Technology outof Your College Classroom Will Improve Student Learning and its sequel, Teaching NakedTechniques: A Practical Guide to Designing Better Classes. He is currently working on a newbook, A New 3Rs: Using Behavioral Science to Prepare Students for a New Learning Economy(Johns Hopkins University Press, due 2019). Bowen is also the 2018 recipient of the BoyerAward for significant contributions to American higher education.
In addition to his teaching and writing, Bowen is an accomplished jazz musician and hasappeared around the world with notable performers, including Stan Getz, Dizzy Gillespie, BobbyMcFerrin, Dave Brubeck, Liberace, and many others.
