The Affordable Care Act aims to expand access to health insurance. To do that, it also needs to keep down the cost of insurance premiums. So, how are things going? You can get a sense of it from the proposed rates from health insurers for individual health insurance next year. State regulators released them last week. With Sheilah Kast to talk about it is Chet Burrell, CEO of the state’s largest insurer, CareFirst BlueCross BlueShield.

You can look up and comment on the rates submitted by health insurers to state regulators here.

CareFirst BlueCross BlueShield was a major funder of our recently completed series on the Affordable Care Act, The Checkup.

Audio for this segment will be available by the end of the day.

Sheilah Kast is the host of On The Record, Monday-Friday, 9:30-10:00 am.
