A virtual film festival next week will examine housing discrimination through the lens of film. Raemond Parrott, of Baltimore’s Office of Equity and Civil Rights, previews the motion pictures and discussions and tells about the pandemic-related complaints his office is investigating.

Then, filmmaker Emily Stubb describes “Deserted,” a documentary that follows West Baltimore activist Anthony Francis. Francis says growing up in a food desert shapes how children think about connecting to food. View the trailer https://vimeo.com/291502660">here. The film will be shown next Wednesday at 10 am.

Sheilah Kast is the host of On The Record, Monday-Friday, 9:30-10:00 am.
Maureen Harvie is senior producer for On the Record. She is a graduate of the University of Maryland, Baltimore County, and joined WYPR in 2014 as an intern for the newsroom. Whether coordinating live election night coverage, capturing the sounds of a roller derby scrimmage, interviewing veterans, or booking local authors, she is always on the lookout for the next story.
