The size of student loan debt in the United States is staggering. About 44 million borrowers in the United States hold $1.3 trillion in outstanding student loans. A new report finds that about two-thirds of all student loan debt belongs to women, that women borrow more than men, and that it takes them longer to pay off their debt.
