Executive Action on Guns

obama.jpg

President Obama outlined this morning a series of executive actions intended to curb gun violence. The actions include requiring background checks for all methods of gun purchases, expanding access to mental health treatment, and increasing funds for enforcement of gun laws.

According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, more than 30,000 Americans were killed by firearms in 2013. Data compiled by the Washington Post found that the United States averaged more than one mass shooting per day in 2015.

As the nation struggles to prevent gun violence and mass shootings, will the Obama administration's actions keep guns out of the wrong hands without infringing on Second Amendment rights?

We hear reaction from both sides of the gun control debate and look at the impact that permit-to-purchase laws have on firearm suicide and homicide rates.
