Bird in Hand presents an evening with acclaimed Sound Designer and Picture Editor Walter Murch, in celebration of his new book!
Suddenly Something Clicked: The Languages of Film Editing and Sound Design will change the way you watch movies. It’s an exciting masterclass on films and how they are made, from the triple-Oscar winner of the Godfather films, Apocalypse Now and The English Patient.
Join us at Bird in Hand for this special evening with Walter Murch himself, reflecting on the six decades of cinematic history he has been a considerable contributor to – and on what makes great films great.
Together with Francis Coppola and George Lucas, Murch abandoned Hollywood in 1969 and moved to San Francisco to create the Zoetrope studio. Their vision was of a new kind of cinema for a new generation of film-goers. Murch’s subsequent contributions in film editing rooms and sound-mixing theatres were responsible for ground-breaking technical and creative innovations.

Join us in celebrating the creativity and style of MICA’s students at the 32nd Annual Benefit Fashion Show!
The Annual Benefit Fashion Show (ABFS) is a student-led production entirely curated by student directors, photographers, and graphic designers. This annual tradition, founded by Dr. Frankie Martin and MICA’s Black Student Union, highlights student designers from a variety of majors and minors across campus.
For this year’s show, ABFS will be concurrent to MICA’s Bicentennial. As a way to explore the history of this institution, the designers have been asked to investigate the theme RECLAIM. In doing so, our show intends to inspire appreciation and action to preserve historic cultural art practices, and to question how we ensure these histories move forward with us. Through research, craft, & performance, our 8 collections explore what it means to acknowledge our roots as artists and take them into the future.

When teenager Stanley Yelnats is hit by a pair of falling sneakers, his unlucky family curse strikes again. Wrongly convicted of stealing the sneakers and sent to the mysterious Camp Green Lake, Stanley joins a ragtag group of boys digging endless holes under the blistering sun—all in the name of building character. But as the layers of dirt pile up, so do the secrets buried beneath them. Part mystery, part adventure, and packed with heart, Holes is a wildly imaginative tale about friendship, fate, and the courage it takes to rewrite your story.
