Jose Bowen: Learn to Change your Mind

Jose Bowen, president of Goucher College comments on the new learning economy, and how technology has changed our relationship to knowledge.  

Bio 

Goucher College President José Antonio Bowen is a pioneer of innovative teaching methods and
has worked at leading colleges around the country. He has taught at Stanford and Georgetown,
and was Dean of the Meadows School of Arts at Southern Methodist University.

 
Bowen is the author of the award-winning book Teaching Naked: How Moving Technology out
of Your College Classroom Will Improve Student Learning and its sequel, Teaching Naked
Techniques: A Practical Guide to Designing Better Classes. He is currently working on a new
book, A New 3Rs: Using Behavioral Science to Prepare Students for a New Learning Economy
(Johns Hopkins University Press, due 2019). Bowen is also the 2018 recipient of the Boyer
Award for significant contributions to American higher education.

 
In addition to his teaching and writing, Bowen is an accomplished jazz musician and has
appeared around the world with notable performers, including Stan Getz, Dizzy Gillespie, Bobby
McFerrin, Dave Brubeck, Liberace, and many others.
