A Conversation with Rep. Donna Edwards; Freddie Gray Motions and Protection For Health Care Workers

Democratic Congresswoman and Senatorial candidate Donna Edwards joins Midday to talk about her run to fillthe seat that will be left vacant by Sen. Barbara A. Mikulski’s retirement in 2017. We’ll talk gun control, equal pay, investment in STEM education, and her call for six debates with her rival, Rep. Chris Van Hollen.

Plus, WYPR Reporter P. Kenneth Burns is at the City Courthouse where motions are being heard regarding the case in the death of Freddie Gray. He joins us toward the end of the hour.

Then: today is the first day that health care workers will be guaranteed federal labor protections like the right minimum wage, overtime pay and travel compensation. Ai-Jen Poo, director of the National Domestic Workers Alliance in New York joins us to discuss what these changes mean.
