Explore the remarkable artistic journey and cultural legacy of Lain Singh Bangdel (1919–2002), widely regarded as the “Father of Modern Art” in Nepal. This collection of paintings—spanning the 1940s to the 1980s— reflects and reframes the cultural, political, and emotional realities of Bangdel’s time and traces his evolving vision as he navigated multiple worlds: colonial and postcolonial South Asia, cosmopolitan Europe, and an emerging modern Nepal.

2nd Annual Rotunda Rocks Returns to Hampden Neighborhood this Spring
Family-friendly Night of Rockin’ Fun Begins May 3 and Runs Every Friday Until End of September

Whether you like to jam to rock, folk, blues, Indie, Latin or reggae, there is something for everyone as the second annual Rotunda Rocks concert series returns to Hampden this spring/summer (711 W 40th Street). This family-friendly FREE concert series, presented by MCB Real Estate, features live music on the plaza and a street festival atmosphere with delicious local food and drinks, fun games and local vendors on Fridays, 6-9 p.m. beginning May 3 and running until September 27. Rotunda Rocks is open to the public and welcomes families and pets. A portion of proceeds from beverage sales benefits the Maryland SPCA. Soulful, passionate, stirring...these are the words most often used to describe twelve time GRAMMY® Award nominee and winner Kirk Whalum's music. Forged from his Memphis gospel roots and his 1980‘s initiation into the thriving Houston nightclub scene, Kirk’s big, rich tenor sound is unmistakably his. Kirk became an in demand session player for top artists like Barbara Streisand, Al Jarreau, Luther Vandross, Larry Carlton, Quincy Jones and most notably, Whitney Houston, amongst many others. It’s his sax heard on the mega-hit, “I Will Always Love You.” Kirk is the recipient of numerous awards and acknowledgments for his musical excellence including three Dove Award nominations, an NAACP Image Award nomination and has won two Stellar Awards-Gospel music’s highest honor. In a career spanning decades, Kirk has a sound that is uniquely his; it is a sound that leaves an indelible imprint on the listener.

A group of teenage girls creates mass hysteria as they accuse fellow villagers of witchcraft in the rigid Puritan society of Salem, Massachusetts in 1692. The accused face the choice of maintaining their ideals or conforming in order to survive in this play about the dangers of unchecked fear, the fragility of justice, and the consequences of history.

2-time GRAMMY® Winning Vocalist Chrisette Michele is hitting the road and she’s debuting her latest single “Home”! You’ll hear brand new music mixed in with her classics like, “A Couple of Forevers,” “Love Is You,” “If I Have My Way” and “Blame it on Me.”

With her signature mixture of R&B, Soul and Jazz, she’s mixing in inspirational lyrics to share the joy of resilience and perseverance. “Home” is 18 year music veteran, Chrisette Michele’s, first music release in 4 years. It’s a night of feel good tunes, southern soul, jazz and classic R&B from the Long Island, New Yorker.

Join MET's longest running improv team, The Comedy Pigs, for a night full of laughs! The Comedy Pigs perform on the first Friday and Saturday of each month. The Comedy Pigs specialize in short-form improv, similar to what you'd see on the TV Show "Whose Line is it Anyway?"
