Come enjoy a night of powerful solos, moving stories, and queer joy with Joy in Defiance: A Cabaret, a special show from the Baltimore Men's Chorus. It's full of solos and small groups singing songs that make you feel happy, strong, and proud.
You'll hear music about being yourself, standing up for others, and finding joy even when things are hard. The singers will be right in front of you, sharing their voices and stories.
The Baltimore Men's Chorus is Maryland's longest-running LGBTQ+ singing group. We welcome all male singers, no matter how they identify or who they love.

The BMC typically has two seasons during the year, during which new members are always welcome:
Classical Choral (Aug to Dec): Secular and non-secular favorites!
Contemporary Choral (Jan to June): Pop to Pride, Billboard hits and Broadway's best
Rehearsals for the upcoming season are from
7:00 PM to 9:00 PM on Mondays.
New members are welcome to join during the first 2-3 weeks of each season, and our new season already started. Our next season will start in August 2025, so e-mail us to get a reminder.
Musical Director: Malcolm Washington
Malcolm Washington has served as the Director of Choral Activities at Hammond High School in the Howard County Public School System for 6 years. Prior to teaching at Hammond, he was a general and choral music teacher at Elkridge Elementary School. Malcolm's love of vocal music began in the black church, where he learned to sing Gospel Music. He later developed an affinity for classical singing through his school music programs in central New Jersey.
Mr. Washington earned his Bachelor of Music in Vocal Music Education from the University of Delaware, where he studied with Dr. Paul Head and Dr. Duane Cottrell. While at UD, Malcolm was a member of the UD Men's Chorus, YChromes Men's A Cappella group, and the world renowned UD Chorale. In addition to his teaching, Mr. Washington is a sought after clinician, private teacher, and guest conductor along the east coast.
