Two hours on backyard barbecuing. In the first hour, legendary Orioles first baseman Boog Powell, a king of barbecue, talks about his life before, during and after his Major League career. Powell is the subject of a new biography co-written with former Baltimore Sun columnist Rob Kasper, "Baltimore Baseball and Barbecue with "Boog Powell: Stories from the Orioles' Smokey Slugger," published this month by American Palate. Then in the second hour, local barbecue guru and food writer George Hensler joins Midday foodies John Shields of Gertrude's and Henry Hong of the Thames Street Oyster House to dish on the best recipes, sauces, and techniques for a summer at the grille. Also: A visit from gourmet popsicle maker Justin Daniel, co-owner of Baltimore-based Pop Couture, LLC. Original air date 7/18/14
