Rep. Donna Edwards (D-Md 4th) On Her U.S. Senate Bid; Author Nancy Cohen's "Breakthrough"

donnaedwards.house.gov

We continue our series of weekly conversations with candidates who are on the ballot in the April 26th primary.  Today, we turn our attention to the race for the United States Senate.  Congresswoman Donna Edwards represents MD’s fourth congressional district.  She is running in the Democratic primary to be the standard bearer in the election to replace Sen. Barbara Mikulski, who is retiring.  We’ll talk about closing Guantanamo, prospects for a new Supreme Court Justice, creating jobs, protecting privacy, and her vision for Maryland and the country.

Then, author Nancy Cohen, who studies the history and current status of women in politics, wonders whether this could be the year that the glass ceiling of the Presidency is broken.  She joins Tom from the NPR West studios in Culver City, California to talk about her new book, Breakthrough: The Making of America’s First Woman President.
