Kat Melton, who directed last year’s smash hit Ride the Cyclone, invites local actors to audition for Agatha Christie’s classic mystery, Agatha Christie’s Murder on the Orient Express. We may all know “who done it,” but Ken Ludwig’s new adaptation is fast, fresh and hilarious. So, actors, get aboard the famous train as it travels from Istanbul to Western Europe in 1934.

Auditions will be held on the CHT stage (103 Walnut Street in Church Hill, Md) from 6-8 pm on Wednesday, May 21 and Friday, May 23; and from 10 am – noon on Saturday, May 24. The show will run for three weekends, from September 12-28.

The play has great parts for actors of all ages, from older teens to senior citizens, with scope for some age/gender flexibility. The director will ask for cold readings from the script—and may include some group activities or other exercises as well. Nothing has been pre-cast, so Kat encourages a big turn-out. Blending live performance with archival audio, this intimate and electrifying work follows three queer researchers as they wade through the voices of those lost to—and those who survived—the HIV/AIDS epidemic. As they listen, dance, and debate, the archive begins to pulse around them, refusing to be forgotten. Part ghost story, part love letter, and part urgent call to remember, this performance asks: How do we honor our ghosts while also fighting for the living?

Future Ghost is a performance ensemble lead by Lyam B. Gabel and Joseph Amodei that creates media-integrated work exploring intimacy, memory, and futurity. Blending performance and new media, we craft immersive, deeply felt experiences that explore the ways technology shapes connection, storytelling, and presence. Our work invites audiences into shared moments of reflection and transformation, fostering what we call ‘epic intimacy’—a sense of closeness created through, rather than in spite of, mediation.

Two Queens. One in power. One in prison. Mary, Queen of Scots, and Elizabeth I – bound by blood, divided by the crown – collide in this intense depiction of their infamous rivalry.

Translated from Friedrich Schiller’s masterpiece, Peter Oswald’s adaptation of Mary Stuart is a bold mix of poetry and prose that seeks to uncover the personal stakes behind their royal clash.

The Church Hill Theatre is excited to introduce (BASS) Basic Acting Skills for Students from the 2nd- 10th grades. Presented through a series of exciting workshops offered on Saturdays, students learn audition preparation, characterization, coordination, stage, movements, poetry, and much, much more. Let BASS take your child’s acting abilities and skills to the next theatrical level. Classes are starting Saturday, February 1st – March 1st, 2025.

CHURCH HILL THEATRE ANNOUNCES CAST FOR THE BRIDGES OF MADISON COUNTY

JW Ruth, the director of The Bridges of Madison County, is delighted to announce the cast for Church Hill Theatre’s annual summer musical. Ruth has assembled a stellar group to bring this much-loved show, with a Tony-winning score by Jason Robert Brown and book by Marsha Norman, to Delmarva audiences this June.

The Bridges of Madison County captures the lyrical expanse of America’s heartland, providing a sweeping romance about the roads we travel, the doors we open, and the bridges we dare to cross. The story centers around beautiful Francesca Johnson, an Italian woman who married an American soldier, Bud, to flee war-torn Italy at the end of WWII. While her husband and children attend the 1955 Iowa State Fair, Francesca looks forward to a few days of peaceful personal time. But everything changes when a handsome National Geographic photographer, Robert Kincaid, pulls into the driveway asking for directions. The consequences are heartbreaking and transforming. The CHT revival promises to be truly memorable.

The cast includes both well-known favorites and a few talented new performers.

The Johnson Family includes Erin Bradley as Francesca and Max Hagan as Bud. Their children Michael and Carolyn are played by Everett Brownley and Riley Rosati. Ian Stotts and Kathleen Cummings later take on the roles of the children as adults.

Matt Rein portrays Robert Kincaid, the charismatic photographer.

Family friends are Marge (Heather Joyce-Byers), Charlie (Herb Ziegler), and Marian (Shannon Carter).
Luisa Forger plays a State Fair singer and Natalie Hagan, Maya McGrory and Luisa Forger are radio singers.

The Ensemble includes Tiffany Ayres, Trevor Ayres, Carly Mourlas, Debbie Ebersole, Jordan Leoncini and Ava Khamvongsa.

The production crew includes Producers, Shelagh Grasso and Sylvia Maloney; Stage Manager, Jean Messick; Sets, Carmelo Grasso; Lights, Kat Melton; Costumes, Connie Fallon; Props, Steffi Ricketts and Heather Robuck; and Publicity, Sarah Wright and Sheila Austrian.
