This summer, GRAMMY Award–winning trumpeter Charlie Porter presents Sci-Fi Standards, Vol. 1: The Future We Knew — a bold reimagining of iconic science-fiction film themes as expansive, improvisational jazz. Drawing from beloved scores including Blade Runner, Back to the Future, Star Wars, Star Trek, Dune, The Terminator, Alien, and Stargate, Porter and his quartet transform these cinematic themes into rich, open-ended musical landscapes; blending nostalgia with forward-looking improvisation.
Charlie Porter is a trumpeter and composer who has been active on the international jazz scene for over two decades. He has released six albums as a leader, including Immigration Nation, which was named one of the Best Albums of the Year by DownBeat. Porter has collaborated and performed with a wide range of artists across generations of jazz, including Joe Zawinul, Orrin Evans, Chuck Israels, Kenny Washington, Paquito D'Rivera, Winard Harper, and the Dizzy Gillespie All-Stars, among many others. As a composer, Charlie has been commissioned by the Dorris Duke Foundation and Chamber Music America. He is currently a professor of trumpet at New York University.
The end of the semester concert will be a highlight of the department of music's offering, this concert will present a range of music from the big band era to current day jazz composers. Including several current jazz/commercial composition majors!!

Known for her crossover mix of smooth jazz, fusion, pop, and new age music, Japan's Keiko Matsui is an internationally acclaimed pianist and composer. Emerging in the late '80s, Matsui has issued 27 albums over the decades including 1989's Under Northern Lights, 1995's chart-topping Sapphire, 2016's Journey to the Heart, and 2023’s Euphoria, that displayed a grasp of both Western and Eastern musical traditions and her love of nature and spirituality. She’s collaborated with the likes of Gregoire Maret, Kirk Whalum, Marcus Miller, Lalah Hathaway, Mike Stern, Randy Brecker, Bob James, Jackiem Joyner, Gerald Albright, Akira Jimbo and more. She’s received many awards over the years, including Billboard Magazine naming her the #1 contemporary Jazz Independent Artist of the year (1996), being ranked as the #3 best-selling contemporary jazz artist of the year (1998), and was the Oasis Smooth Jazz Awards “Female Artist of the Year" (2000 & 2001).

La Sonora is taking over Library Nineteen to bring you CUEVA DE LA CUMBIA - an underground cumbia fest featuring Yeison Landero, San Jacinto’s heredero de la cumbia, bringing live cumbia sabanera straight from Colombia to the dancefloor and continuing the musical legacy of his grandfather, the legendary Andres Landero. Joining the lineup are Soroche, a Baltimore-based band mixing cumbia, ska, punk, and folk with tambora, poetic lyrics, and a rebellious energy that transmogrifies modern and traditional sounds into a cultural border-crossing danceable alchemy and La Bodoquita, a Mexican-American vinyl selector DJ known for eclectic, all-vinyl sets across cumbia, Latin American rock, soul, and doo-wop. She’ll be spinning all-vinyl sonidera selects to keep your body moving.

The Towson University Symphony Orchestra presents its year-end concert, showcasing an exceptional program that bridges contemporary composition with classical masterworks. The evening will open with a newly-arranged composition by distinguished TU Professor Jonathan Leshnoff, whose orchestral works have garnered national acclaim. The concert will also spotlight the winner of the 2025 TU Concerto Competition, offering the opportunity to hear one of the university's most talented student soloists perform with the full orchestra.
The program will culminate in a performance of Ludwig van Beethoven's monumental Symphony No. 3 in E-flat major, Op. 55, "Eroica." This revolutionary work, which marked a turning point in symphonic writing, stands as one of the most influential compositions in the classical repertoire. With its bold harmonic language, expansive structure, and heroic character, the "Eroica" promises to deliver a powerful and unforgettable conclusion to the orchestra's season.

Armed with a velvety voice and a knack for writing sultry romantic ballads, Keith Washington dominated the charts in the early 90s with his suave brand of contemporary R&B. Washington made his official debut in 1991 with Make Time For Love, which went straight to the top of Billboard’s Top R&B/Hip-Hop Albums chart and spawned the massive hit “Kissing You, ”which won him a 1992 Soul Train Music Award for Best R&B/Soul Single, Male. “If You Were With Me Now,” a duet with Australian singer Kylie Minogue, was also featured on the album and reached an impressive Number 4 on the UK Singles Chart.
