It is the world’s largest online math competition, an international celebration of mathematics where 10 million students have answered more than 1 Billion questions. The 2026 theme, United by Numbers, celebrates the belief that everyone can learn and excel at mathematics when given the right support. Teachers and students need not be Mathletics users to participate.

Jonathan Suazo — Rising Jazz Saxophonist & Composer

Jonathan Suazo is an award-winning saxophonist, composer, and cultural seeder who utilizes music to shine a light on elements of his Puerto Rican and Dominican roots. Jonathan was named one of the top ten emerging Jazz artists of 2023 by the GRAMMYS and his debut album “Ricano” (Ropeadope Records) was listed as one of the best Jazz albums of 2023 by The New York Times.

A Berklee Global Jazz Institute graduate (M.M), he’s received many honors including the 2024 Chamber Music America New Jazz Works Grant, The WBUR Makers Series Award for generating impact in the Boston's community, The Winter 2023 South Arts Jazz Road Tours Grant, and the Berklee Urban Service Award for using the arts to bring awareness about the needs of the Puerto Rican people during hurricane Maria and supporting humanitarianism. Jonathan has also served as a grant reviewer for organizations like New Music USA and Mid Atlantic.

Suazo is set to release Ricano Vol. II in May 2026. This new chapter continues his bold journey, weaving together Puerto Rican and Dominican roots into a rich contemporary sound that pushes the boundaries of jazz innovation.

2nd Annual Rotunda Rocks Returns to Hampden Neighborhood this Spring
Family-friendly Night of Rockin’ Fun Begins May 3 and Runs Every Friday Until End of September

Whether you like to jam to rock, folk, blues, Indie, Latin or reggae, there is something for everyone as the second annual Rotunda Rocks concert series returns to Hampden this spring/summer (711 W 40th Street). This family-friendly FREE concert series, presented by MCB Real Estate, features live music on the plaza and a street festival atmosphere with delicious local food and drinks, fun games and local vendors on Fridays, 6-9 p.m. beginning May 3 and running until September 27. Rotunda Rocks is open to the public and welcomes families and pets. A portion of proceeds from beverage sales benefits the Maryland SPCA. Atlantic Starr was one of the most consistently successful – and underrated – soul bands of the 80s and early 90s, with a basketful of memorable songs including "Always", "Secret Lovers", "Circles", "Silver Shadow", and "Masterpiece". The S.O.S. Band is an R&B and electro-funk group who also gained fame in the 80s. They are best known for their songs "Take Your Time," "Just Be Good to Me," "Tell Me If You Still Care," and “The Finest.”

Julie Hawkins Ennis is a powerhouse vocalist whose musical roots run deep in the soul of Southern Maryland. After college, Julie began recording under Paul Minor’s guidance as well as that of legendary R&B artist Al Johnson of The Unifics. Under Minor’s development, she was positioned to become a featured female solo act under Verdine White of Earth, Wind & Fire with EMI. From Southern Maryland roots to East Coast stages, Julie “Juliet” Hawkins Ennis remains a dynamic voice shaped by passion, heritage, and a lifelong devotion to music.

Church Hill, MD - Church Hill Theatre is pleased to announce that registration for Basic Acting Skills for Students (BASS) will open online on December 10, 2025. BASS offers students in 1st through 8th grades a chance to bask in the glow of the footlights in a series of Saturday workshops. In this program, which begins on January 31, 2026, students learn about improvisation, character development, scene preparation, and musical theatre dance and vocals. The students’ exploration of theatrical scenes, storytelling, movement and song concludes with a performance for family and friends, scheduled for February 28.

In 2026, the program will include two class levels: students in grades 1-4, and students in grades 5-8. The program will be taught by Becca Van Aken, program founder and experienced theater and QACPS educator. Ms. Van Aken will be joined by experienced guest instructors and members of the Church Hill Theatre family.
Classes will be held on Saturdays beginning January 31, running through February 28. The BASS Jr class (1st to 4th graders) will run from 9:00 AM to 11:00 AM. The BASS Sr. class (5th to 8th graders) will run from 12:00 PM to 2:00 PM. There will be a joint class for both groups on the final day, February 28 from 9:00AM to 1:00 PM, including a brief presentation for families.

The cost of the class is $110. Partial scholarships are available. A 10% discount is offered to families who register more than one child.
