The Liberal Arts In Prison, "Farewell Aleppo: My Father, My People, And Their Long Journey"

Jessup_060.jpg

What can a liberal-arts college education do for a prison inmate? Goucher College has professors teaching courses in two Maryland prisons. Tom Hall visits classes in the men’s and women’s prisons at Jessup. Plus, Claudette Sutton’s father, Mike, emigrated from the old Jewish neighborhood in the Syrian city of Aleppo to Shanghai and eventually to Maryland, six decades ago. She’s written a book about it: Farewell Aleppo: My Father, My People, and Their Long Journey Home.
