Station North Restaurant Makes Bon Appetit List (BBJ Story)

The Baltimore Business Journal

Baltimore's on the map for Bon Appetit readers this year with a restaurant on the magazine's Hot 10 list. Le Comptoir du Vin, a cozy French bistro in Station North, ranked number eight on the annual list, which spotlights Bon Appetit's picks for the best new restaurants in America.

The magazine's editors lauded Le Comptoir's "fresh and new and fun and youthful" take on traditional French cuisine, which co-owners Rosemary Liss and Will Mester have infused with a range of influences, from Mediterranean to Japanese. Standout dishes, according to Bon Appetit, include "the silkiest chicken liver pâté," a steak tartare "that practically glistens," and the "Grandpa toast" dessert, "in which foie gras is shaved onto a piece of well-crisped bread, and it’s exactly what you think a frozen waffle smothered in butter and maple syrup is going to taste like but never does." The last time a Baltimore restaurant made it onto the Hot 10 list was in 2009, when Bon Appetit editors highlighted Chef Spike Gjerde's Woodberry Kitchen.
