It seems like every time a big-name startup goes public, T. Rowe Price Group Inc. is involved. That's the case once again as Uber Technologies Inc. prepares to go public in one of the most highly anticipated initial public offerings of 2019.
Baltimore-based T. Rowe Price participated in two of the ride-sharing company's early funding rounds. Uber filed paperwork confidentially last week for its IPO. Depending on the success of Uber's IPO and size of T. Rowe Price's stake, mutual fund shareholders could potentially see a big return. T. Rowe Price has a history of getting in early on startups before they go public. T. Rowe was an early investor in Facebook and Twitter.
