Saks Inc. plans to close its 584,000-square-foot distribution center in Aberdeen in early 2019. The luxury department store chain has 150 employees at the location. A spokeswoman for Canadian retail conglomerate Hudson's Bay Co., which owns Saks, said operations are being moved to the company's distribution center in Wilkes-Barre, Pennsylvania, beginning in February to "streamline work and create efficiencies."
The layoffs, which the company has reported to the state's labor department, will take place in phases.
