Bali, Indonesia-born pianist, composer, and bandleader Joey Alexander has been performing professionally since 2013 when Wynton Marsalis invited him to perform at the Jazz at Lincoln Center Gala. Since a tender age, Joey has been widely regarded as one of the most highly skilled pianists and thoughtful improvisers in jazz.

Alexander’s albums have netted three GRAMMY® Award nominations: one for Best Jazz Instrumental Album (My Favorite Things) and two for Best Improvised Jazz Solo (“Giant Steps,” from My Favorite Things, and “Countdown” from the album of the same name), with My Favorite Things and Countdown securing the No. 1 spot on the Billboard jazz charts and Eclipse coming at No. 3. Over the course of his astonishing career, Alexander has performed with Wayne Shorter and Esperanza Spalding at the Obama White House, for President Bill Clinton at the Arthur Ashe Learning Center Gala, at the Grand Ole Opry, the Apollo Theater, Carnegie Hall, and at major jazz festivals and nightclubs around the world with top-shelf collaborators like Larry Grenadier, Kendrick Scott, Chris Potter and many others.

Guitarists from the Towson University Guitar Program, a premiere collegiate program in the region, present an exciting program of music for solo guitar and small guitar ensembles. Join us for an evening of beautiful and engaging music!

The end of the semester concert will be a highlight of the department of music's offering, this concert will present a range of music from the big band era to current day jazz composers. Including several current jazz/commercial composition majors!!

Known for her crossover mix of smooth jazz, fusion, pop, and new age music, Japan's Keiko Matsui is an internationally acclaimed pianist and composer. Emerging in the late '80s, Matsui has issued 27 albums over the decades including 1989's Under Northern Lights, 1995's chart-topping Sapphire, 2016's Journey to the Heart, and 2023’s Euphoria, that displayed a grasp of both Western and Eastern musical traditions and her love of nature and spirituality. She’s collaborated with the likes of Gregoire Maret, Kirk Whalum, Marcus Miller, Lalah Hathaway, Mike Stern, Randy Brecker, Bob James, Jackiem Joyner, Gerald Albright, Akira Jimbo and more. She’s received many awards over the years, including Billboard Magazine naming her the #1 contemporary Jazz Independent Artist of the year (1996), being ranked as the #3 best-selling contemporary jazz artist of the year (1998), and was the Oasis Smooth Jazz Awards “Female Artist of the Year" (2000 & 2001).

The Rotunda Welcomes Back Popular Family-Friendly Concert Series this May
3rd Annual Rotunda Rocks Begins Friday, May 2 and Runs Every Friday through Friday, October 3

Grab a blanket or dust off your favorite portable chair and head on over to Hampden this spring for the return of the popular family-friendly concert series, the 3rd Annual Rotunda Rocks. This FREE weekly concert series, presented by MCB Real Estate, features live music on the Plaza and a street festival atmosphere with delicious local food and drinks, fun games and local vendors and will take place Fridays, 6-9 p.m. beginning May 2 and running until October 3. (711 West 40th Street). Whether you like rock n ’roll, folk, bluegrass, Indie, Latin, Celtic or reggae music, there is something for everyone and the event is open to the public. Jazz/soul vocalist and pianist from Nashville, Kandace Springs, was referred to as “a voice that could melt snow” by her longtime mentor Prince. Kandace’s dreamy, hypnotic and richly emotional voice is full of unique runs, fluttering notes and sonic surprises. Kandace has worked alongside many including Christian McBride, David Sanborn, Roy Hargrove, Wu-Tang Clan's Ghostface Killah, Joshua Redman & Norah Jones.

After a wait of almost three years, Kandace Springs’ legion of worldwide fans finally have a new album to look forward to. Run Your Race, her tribute to her late father, legendary Nashville soul singer Scat Spring, is the first album of hers to feature almost all original songs, written by Kandace both solo and with some stellar collaborators, such as Gregg Wells (Adele), Matt Hales (Liane La Havas), and her long-time partners Evan Rogers and Carl Sturken (Rihanna). The title song, penned by Kandace, is the most heartfelt of her career, and which she says is “absolutely the most personal record I’ve ever made, or ever will make.”
