2nd Annual Rotunda Rocks Returns to Hampden Neighborhood this SpringFamily-friendly Night of Rockin’ Fun Begins May 3 and Runs Every Friday Until End of September
Whether you like to jam to rock, folk, blues, Indie, Latin or reggae, there is something for everyone as the second annual Rotunda Rocks concert series returns to Hampden this spring/summer (711 W 40th Street). This family-friendly FREE concert series, presented by MCB Real Estate, features live music on the plaza and a street festival atmosphere with delicious local food and drinks, fun games and local vendors on Fridays, 6-9 p.m. beginning May 3 and running until September 27. Rotunda Rocks is open to the public and welcomes families and pets. A portion of proceeds from beverage sales benefits the Maryland SPCA. Maryland's own Braxton Cook is an Emmy Award-winning, two time GRAMMY® Award winning, NAACP Image Award-nominated artist, known for his world-class skills as an alto saxophonist, vocalist, songwriter, producer and composer. With a blend of jazz, soul, and alt-R&B, he has carved out a unique, melodic sound that has made him one of the most exciting voices of his generation. A Juilliard-trained, genre-jumping artist whose music feels both contemporary and timeless, Braxton studied saxophone under the renowned Paul Carr. During this time, Braxton was selected as a semi-finalist in the Thelonious Monk International Jazz Saxophone Competition.
He has performed on major stages around the world, from Coachella to international jazz festivals, and collaborated with artists like Rihanna, Solange, Christian McBride Big Band, Tom Misch, Christian Scott, Marquis Hill, and Jon Batiste, performing on his soundtrack for Pixar’s Oscar-winning film, Soul. His albums garner critical acclaim from outlets like Billboard, BET, NPR Music, FORBES, and The Washington Post, cementing Braxton as both a "jazz marvel" and a cultural influencer shaping modern music. His newest album, Not Everyone Can Go, drops August 29th. Musically, the album conjures images of bright evening sunshine, when the temperature begins to cool.

Baltimore native, Kevin Jackson, has been taking the smooth jazz industry by storm since 2012, performing with artists such as Sheila E. Wyclef and Maysa. Jackson's mix of original compositions and acoustics renditions take his listeners on a soulful and rhythmic journey. Jackson produces projects that offer something for every person's taste, whether it is rock, contemporary Christian, jazz, soulful R&B and more. Recently, Jackson has had the opportunity to perform with smooth jazz artists like Marcus Johnson, Jeanette Harris, Nathan Mitchell and Jackiem Joyner.
Kevin recorded his fourth smooth jazz debut album entitled ELEVATION in August 2021. Two singles, “Elevation,” featuring Judah Sealy, and “Druid Hill Park” are currently streaming on all platforms and in rotation on Watercolors, Sirius XM radio. His single, “KJ’s Vybe” was released in April 2023 ahead of his released fifth studio album in 2024. Kevin’s single “Be Free” and “Joy in the Sunshine” can be heard on Watercolors and all streaming platforms. His latest release in 2025 is an upbeat summer song entitled “Hangin' Out.”

Legends of R&B - Tribute to the Isley Brothers, Maxwell & Gap Band featuring Kenny Sway & Craig T. Dobson!
Kenny Sway is known as "DC'S Best Male Vocalist,” coming from Seat Pleasant, Maryland, best known for the viral videos of his street performances in Washington DC. Kenny is a very genuine artist, who became a real advocate for the black community in the aftermath of Floyd’s death, leading almost daily peaceful protests dominated by love, peace, unity and his music. He started out as a street artist years ago, serenading the streets of Maryland and DC, but he is still going out in the streets to perform for the people who can’t afford to buy tickets to his concerts.
Craig T. Dobson is a singer/songwriter, born and raised in Annapolis, MD to parents that were both singers, involved in music ministries. Craig sang in the vocal group, S.M.U.V. (Seductive Music Unique Vocals). The group had major success by wining multiple Radio Sponsored events. S.M.U.V. opened for major acts such as Levert, Wendy Moten, Men at Large, Hi Five, SWV, MC Search, Dru Hill, Brian McKnight, Sudden Change, Boys II Men, Kci & Jojo, and one of the last performances of the legendary duo, Ashford and Simpson. Craig released his debut self-titled EP with 9 Nineteen Music Label in Atlanta, GA in 2017 and received 11 Grammy Considerations for the Self-titled project in 2018. Craig T. Dobson is doing what he loves most, touching lives through music.

ARTEMIS is a powerful ensemble of modern jazz masters, founded in 2017 by pianist and musical director Renee Rosnes. Each musician is a bandleader and composer and every performance encompasses inspired arrangements of classics and originals. Performances across North America and Europe at major venues and festivals have garnered high praise from audiences and critics alike. It is no wonder that ARTEMIS has been awarded #1 Group of the Year in the Annual Downbeat Readers Poll in both 2023 and 2024. Their third recording “Arboresque” will be released February 28, 2025.
