Bassist/Composer and TU Alum, Drew Gress returns as the guest artist for the Murray Jazz Residency. Join us for a week of classes, rehearsals and concerts with Mr. Gress.

April 6 at 8 p.m. Mr. Gress will be in concert with the TU Jazz Faculty Ensemble and on April 10 at 8 p.m. Mr. Gress will perform with students of the TU Department of Music.

Proceeds benefit the TU Foundation

Lyfe Jennings is an R&B and soul singer songwriter, record producer, and instrumentalist. He plays the guitar, bass, and piano which he integrates into his music. In January 2003, he performed in Harlem at the Showtime at The Apollo. Jennings moved to New York City where he performed at rapper Nelly’s concert at Radio City Music Hall, at an NAACP convention where he performed an original song called “Thank God for the NAACP”, and at the Cafeteria in Chelsea, Manhattan during the blackout on August 14. He signed with Columbia Records and released his debut album Lyfe 268-192 in August 2004, featuring his first single “Stick Up Kid” and “Must Be Nice”. His other hits include “Never Never Land,” “Let's Stay Together,” “Hypothetically,” “26 Years 17 Days,” and many more.

Craig T. Dobson is a singer/songwriter, born and raised in Annapolis, MD to parents that were both singers, involved in music ministries. Craig sang in the vocal group, S.M.U.V. (Seductive Music Unique Vocals). The group had major success by wining multiple Radio Sponsored events. S.M.U.V. opened for major acts such as Levert, Wendy Moten, Men at Large, Hi Five, SWV, MC Search, Dru Hill, Brian McKnight, Sudden Change, Boys II Men, Kci & Jojo, and one of the last performances of the legendary duo, Ashford and Simpson.

A proud graduate of Hampton University, Brandon Garner has been blessed with numerous opportunities to share this rare gift that has been placed within him. Brandon has performed for and with world renowned artists such as Philip Bailey, Tracy Hamlin, Daryl LA Hunt, Sugar Bear, Chelsey Green, Crystal Aikin, Rude Boys, and Men At Large. Through his soulful range that captivates audiences and versatility as a musician, Brandon gives his all to the artistry that he has been graciously gifted with.

The UMBC Jazz Ensemble, under the direction of Matt Belzer is a large jazz group dedicated to the professional training and creative development of its members. Throughout the year, the group performs at concerts, special events and festivals. They have performed with numerous guest artists including Nicole Mitchell, Allison Miller, Jonathan Barber, Howard Johnson, Ben Allison, Steven Bernstein, and Larry Willis. This concert will feature new works composed and arranged by students.

Chuck Redd is well known internationally as a performer on drums and vibraphone. Chuck began recording and touring the globe when he joined the Charlie Byrd Trio at the age of 21. For two consecutive years, Chuck was awarded “Best Vibist” in New York City’s Hot House Jazz Magazine 2015 and 2016 Fans Decision award. To his credit are 25 European tours, six tours of Japan, and being featured on over 80 recordings.

Chuck is the 2019 musical director of The Oregon Festival of American Music. He is a featured soloist, annually at The W.C. Handy Music Festival, The Newport Beach Jazz Party, The West Texas Jazz Party, The North Carolina Jazz Festival and The Roswell Jazz Festival. He has toured and performed with Dizzy Gillespie, Mel Torme, Tommy Flanagan, Bill Mays, Ray Brown, Monty Alexander, Laurindo Almeida, Tal Farlow, Rebecca Kilgore, Nicki Parrott, Scott Hamilton, Terry Gibbs, Conte Candoli, Barney Kessel, Ken Peplowski, Mickey Roker, Houston Person, and the Benny Goodman Tribute Orchestra.

Celebrate with Baltimore's Warren Wolf as we enjoy the release of his new album, SMOOVE, out April 2026! SMOOVE is an album designed for music lovers of R&B, gospel, soul and fusion jazz. Songs such as “Yesterday”, “Take Five”, “Some Skunk Funk” will be featured.

Warren Wolf is an acclaimed jazz vibraphonist known for his sophisticated, exploratory, nearly acrobatic post-bop style that moved one critic to exclaim that “he plays the vibraphone like an electric guitar!” From the young age of three years old, Warren has been trained on the vibraphone/marimba, drums, and piano. Under the guidance of his father Warren Wolf Sr., Warren has a deep background in all genres of music. Warren has performed and/or recorded with such luminaries as Bobby Watson, Christian McBride, Wynton Marsalis, Christian Scott, Robert Glasper, Esperanza Spalding, and others. Warren Wolf is one of the hardest swinging virtuosos in all of modern music.

2nd Annual Rotunda Rocks Returns to Hampden Neighborhood this Spring
Family-friendly Night of Rockin’ Fun Begins May 3 and Runs Every Friday Until End of September

Whether you like to jam to rock, folk, blues, Indie, Latin or reggae, there is something for everyone as the second annual Rotunda Rocks concert series returns to Hampden this spring/summer (711 W 40th Street). This family-friendly FREE concert series, presented by MCB Real Estate, features live music on the plaza and a street festival atmosphere with delicious local food and drinks, fun games and local vendors on Fridays, 6-9 p.m. beginning May 3 and running until September 27. Rotunda Rocks is open to the public and welcomes families and pets. A portion of proceeds from beverage sales benefits the Maryland SPCA. Since its’ inception in Washington, D.C. (1973), The Grammy-nominated African American vocal ensemble, SWEET HONEY IN THE ROCK® has thrived as a performance ensemble founded on the missions of empowerment, education, and entertainment. They've has been described as, “one of the most dynamic, versatile and still relevant musical collectives today.”

Their current roster includes vocalists Carol Maillard, Louise Robinson, Aisha Kahlil, Nitanju Bolade Casel, Rochelle Rice and Christie Dashiell, with Romeir Mendez on upright acoustic/electric bass, and American Sign Language interpreter, Barbara Hunt.

Throughout five decades, the ensemble members have worked to create engaging and socially conscious music that consistently takes an active stance toward making our planet a better place for all in which to live. Their musical landscape embraces multiple genres/generations and addresses civil & human rights, women’s issues, gun violence, death, love, spirituality, children’s songs and so much more. Sweet Honey In The Rock has continuously evolved into international ambassadors of a cappella vocal and lyrical excellence, performing for the likes of Barack and Michelle Obama, as well as at the National Memorial Service for Nelson Mandela.

St. Vincent de Paul of Baltimore (SVDP), the nonprofit dedicated to ensuring those impacted by poverty have the skills, resources, and opportunity to achieve their full potential, will host the 20th annual Empty Bowls event, to raise critical funds for services that help members of the community impacted by hunger, homelessness and poverty.

On Friday, April 17, Candlelight & Clay is an evening reception featuring an open bar, music, dancing, games and entertainment, silent auction, tastings from local restaurants, and first pick at the souvenir bowls.

Spend an evening with performer/songwriter Nygel D. Robinson as he showcases original music and some of your favorite hits from Baltimore artists like Billie Holiday, Cab Calloway, and Dru Hill with a twist, of course. He’ll also have a few friends joining him along the way.
