Hattimatim-Team, in association with Greenbelt Arts Center, presents award-winning playwright Abhisek Bhattacharya’s new play, “Wifey Unknown,” on Fridays and Saturdays at 8pm from February 13-21, 2026, and on Sunday February 15, 2026, at 2pm at Greenbelt Arts Center, Maryland.

This eagerly awaited new play is directed by Bhattacharya himself, portraying the timeless tale of hopes lost and found, grief and guilt accrued and erased, and love questioned and prospered in the context of a teenage athlete whose life-threatening injury during a competition changes the course of her life. Tormented by her grief and guilt, plagued by suicidal thoughts, and neglected by her work-addicted husband, Rita finally confronts her inner demons after a friend saves her from a near-death experience. Rita writes a script that reconciles the past wounds of her and her husband, and transforms a physically broken, repressed, “can’t-do” wife into the immensely talented, champion teenager who had lost everything after her accident.

“This is a story of our times. The themes are so relatable, irrespective of the societal or economic sphere you come from," says playwright and director Abhisek Bhattacharya. "Wifey Unknown" is a story of repression and redemption."
