About the Maypole: The Tudor Rose and the Shakespearean Tradition
The regular Mountainside concert schedule will resume on Sunday, March 10th with “ABOUT THE MAYPOLE: THE TUDOR ROSE & THE SHAKESPEAREAN TRADITION.” Presenting a delightful English musical style that is still popular today, the concert features some of Mountainside’s favorite singers–Corrine Byrne, Emily Nöel, Ben Hawker, Janna Critz, Ryan Mullaney and Corbin Phillips. These dynamic performers will be joined by viol player Arnie Tanimoto, lutenist Lyle Nordstrom and the “great, young, virtuoso” plucked string specialist, Arash Noori. Madrigals, "fa-la-la" ballets, lute music and songs from Shakespeare plays will be presented in an ear-pleasing afternoon at 4pm at St. Paul's Lutheran, 15 N. Smallwood (Smallwood and Washington Streets), in Cumberland, MD. There will be a pre-concert talk about the music at 3:30pm.
