Jukebox The Ghost: Promise Of A 'Good Day'

Often compared to the likes of Ben Folds, or even a muted incarnation of Queen, Jukebox the Ghost makes music that's buoyant without leaving a saccharine aftertaste, as evidenced by the flamboyantly orchestrated "Good Day." In the process, the D.C. band has caught the eye of musicians as varied as Regina Spektor and Kanye West.

"Good Day" teeters memorably between optimism and realism, with a bit of pie-in-the-sky dreaming thrown in for good measure: "I think that I would like to invite everyone I've known, dead and alive / to a street where we can be totally free," Ben Thornewill sings, hammering home the idealism. Jukebox the Ghost may travel through some ups and downs in "Good Day," but along the way, the band never loses sight of the grandiosity that helps define it.
