So Long From Bryant Park

LUKE BURBANK, host:

Hey, Alli, remember on Monday we were talking about all these kids that were descending upon THE BRYANT PARK PROJECT world headquarters.

ALLISON STEWART, host:

It was fantastic.

BURBANK: Because it was Columbus Day and all the schools were closed, and we actually put together a special plan where we introduced these kids to none other than the president-former-Jimmy Carter.

Here let's go to the tape.

(Soundbite of tape)

BURBANK: This is our mark. President Carter. This is you guys, kids. This is what's going to happen. You're going to shake his hand and be really nice to him. It's going to be awesome.

STEWART: Nice coaching of the kids.

BURBANK: Thank you. Thank you very much.

STEWART: That was William(ph), Tommy(ph), and…

BURBANK: Nathaniel(ph).

STEWART: Nathaniel and Cassey(ph).

BURBANK: Cassey. Oh Nathaniel wasn't there.

STEWART: No.

BURBANK: He was there in spirit.

STEWART: He was there in spirit. And those kids got to meet Jimmy Carter although one of the kids said, he's not president anymore, why do I have to be good?

(Soundbite of laughter)

BURBANK: Yeah. So you need to go check out this video. I think it might be the funniest video that we've put up. It's at npr.org/bryantpark and the BPP chil'rens met the former president.

STEWART: You have been listening to THE BRYANT PARK PROJECT from NPR News. I'm Allison Stewart.

BURBANK: I am Luke Burbank. Thank you. We're always online at npr.org/bryantpark and we will see you tomorrow. Transcript provided by NPR, Copyright NPR.
