For this performance Justin and his band will offer a tribute to the timeless and timely music of Fela Kuti at An die Musik Live! Fela Aníkúlápó Kútì was a Nigerian musician and political activist. He is regarded as the principal innovator of Afrobeat, a Nigerian music genre that combines West African music with American funk and jazz.
Justin’s versatility will be on display in what promises to be a dynamic performance of classic Fela tunes - and may feature Justin’s own compositions to align with the vibe of the evening.
Justin Taylor’s music is intended to bring music lovers and new listeners joy as he muses and crafts melodies to remember. Justin began his musical journey in the churches of his hometown, Baltimore, and has journeyed beyond the DMV to cultivate a rich and versatile sound. After graduating from Towson University, Justin toured the west coast with a nascent R&B group. Returning to Baltimore to refine his technique and catalog, Justin has become one of Baltimore’s most sought after Jazz pianists.
In addition to recording and playing with local and nationally known artists such as May’sa Leak saxophonist Corinthia Cromwell, Carl Grubbs, Tim Warfield and more, Justin has released a number of projects currently available on streaming platforms. His most recent eponymous jazz EP (September 2025) Justin Taylor’s EP is making its way across platforms after his release concert on the George Manning Stage earlier this month. Justin released a new tune in August 2025, Bon Fet - a tribute to carnival and the diasporic experience. Bon Fet, Vibes, Trees, Wine and Chocolates and more of Justin Taylor’s music are featured on his website and can be found on all major streaming platforms.

At just 23 years of age, Nazir Ebo was declared, “the Philadelphia jazz scene’s next breakthrough talent” by WRTI. The second drum prodigy to emerge from his West Philadelphia home, following older brother Justin Faulkner of the Branford Marsalis Quartet, Ebo has become an in-demand sideman for such greats as Joshua Redman, Soweto Kinch, George Burton, and Salami Rose Joe Louis.
Philadelphia-born Nazir Ebo is a boundary-pushing drummer, composer, and bandleader who is redefining the sound of modern jazz. A self-taught prodigy from a musical family, Ebo has toured worldwide as part of the Joshua Redman quartet, earning acclaim for his electrifying performances. As a drummer and classically trained bassist, Ebo’s work reflects a profound technical foundation that constantly pushes the boundaries of jazz. Ebo's sound is bold, dynamic, and utterly captivating.

Recognized by artists such as Krzysztof Penderecki and Maxim Vengerov, in 2024 they have been awarded Poland's most prestigious prize for classical music - the 'Polityka Passport' - with duo being praised for its 'versatility and ability to navigate through diverse musical realms; virtuosity, unbridled imagination, and ingenuity in selecting and creating new repertoire for the distinctive combination of violin and accordion'. This accolade follows a long line of Grand Prix and First Prizes at international music competitions in addition to performances at prestigious venues, including Carnegie Hall, Esplanade Concert Hall (Singapore), The Edge Melbourne (Australia), Teatro del Lago (Chile), Guangzhou Opera House (China) and a sell-out debut performance at the Warsaw Philharmonic (Poland). Garbage Quest is an original semi-improvised homage to retro video games, presented by Baltimore Rock Opera Society featuring the band Garbage Masher. BROS puts the controller in the audience's hands, guiding our plucky adventuring party through quests, romance, and against the evil forces of Monetization in this 1 hour celebration of gaming, fantasy, and electronic music.

Cindy Blackman Santana is a virtuoso drummer whose artistry spans the realms of jazz and rock. As a bandleader, musician, and the new face of NFL Monday Night Football, Cindy is a sound innovator with a passion for pushing creative boundaries and exploring movement and change. She is as known for the nuances and colors she brings to her beats and fills as she is for the sheer power of her soulful playing. “Some drummers act, some react. Some keep time, others create it. Cindy Blackman Santana is among the few who can,” writes Mike Zwerin of the International Herald Tribune.
Cindy has been creating magnificent musical time and space since the beginning of her career as a busking street performer in New York City in the ’80s through the present day, touring the globe and making albums at the top of her game—including the critically acclaimed Another Lifetime (2010). In addition to collaborating onstage and in-studio with her own group—also known as Another Lifetime—she has toured and recorded with artists including Pharoah Sanders, Cassandra Wilson, Bill Laswell, Joss Stone, Joe Henderson, Buckethead, Don Pullen, Hugh Masakela, and Angela Bofill. From 1992 to 2007 and again in 2014 & 2015 she was the drummer in Lenny Kravitz’s band, performing through multiple world tours and hit albums. In 2010, she was part of the all-star line-up performing “Bitches Brew,” a tribute to Miles Davis’ seminal album staged at the San Francisco Jazz Festival and NYC Winter JazzFest.
