Community Calendar

Art with a Heart invites the community to its annual exhibition. Guests will find a wide range of styles and mediums, including paintings, ceramics, textiles, photography, mosaics and sculptures made by AWAH volunteers, staff, teachers and interns.

Proceeds from all purchases will support the individual artists and the nonprofit overall. Admission is free and guests can enjoy complimentary hors d’oeuvres, beer, wine and non-alcoholic beverages while viewing the art. RSVPs are welcome but not required.

Founded in 2000, Art with a Heart uses visual art for positive civic and economic change in its community programming, workforce development, community art, service learning and leadership development initiatives. Since its inception, AWAH has provided access to high-quality, hands-on art programming across Baltimore City and beyond. In 2025 alone, the nonprofit facilitated more than 13,000 art classes, collaborated with 95 community partners and engaged over 6,000 volunteers in service to its mission. THE HEIDI CHRONICLES Continues Vagabond Players’ 110th Season

Before hashtags and headlines, there was Heidi—searching for connection, purpose and a place in a rapidly changing world. This spring, Vagabond Players brings Wendy Wasserstein’s THE HEIDI CHRONICLES to the stage, directed by Lee Conderacci in her Vagabond Players debut.
In this sparkling and oh so relevant comedy, art historian Heidi Holland and her friends travel from the 1960s through the 1980s making life-changing choices relating to dating, mating and career paths. Will the brilliant and perceptive Heidi find the partner of her dreams? Do “women’s libbers” consider Heidi’s decision about having a child to be a betrayal? Can Heidi attain the fulfillment that she—and millions of other women—fought for? Winner of both the Pulitzer Prize for Drama and the Tony Award for Best Play, The Heidi Chronicles remains a sharp, insightful and deeply relatable look at friendship, feminism and the search for meaning and continues to serve as a reminder of what’s been accomplished and how much remains to be achieved.
THE HEIDI CHRONICLES runs April 10 – May 3, 2026, with performances Fridays and Saturdays at 8 p.m. and Sundays at 2 p.m. And check out a special “Thursdays on Broadway” performance April 30 at 8 p.m. when all tickets are just $12.

At once a transcendent coming-of-age tale and a call to reach out to each other, Every Brilliant Thing is a warm-hearted, hilarious, heart-wrenching play about how depression can affect a family, and the lengths we will go for those we love.

Marcus Johnson is returning with friends to Keystone Korner Baltimore on May 17th! Keyboardist and bandleader Marcus Johnson mans the boundaries between smooth jazz and modern R&B. To date, Marcus has released more than fifteen Billboard charted CDs, and has the distinction of having his groundbreaking 2008 Billboard Top 20 Contemporary Jazz FLO (For the Love Of) Anthology, which consisted of three distinct CDs -- FLO Chill, FLO Romance and FLO Standards - all chart Top 10 on Billboard Contemporary Jazz Charts simultaneously. As head of Three Keys Music, Johnson produced and released on the Three Keys Music label national jazz artists: Michael Lington, Jaared Arosemena, Bobby Lyle, Nick Colionne, R&B singer, Alyson Williams, neo-soul songstress Zahzarah; and smooth jazz Saxophonists Phillip Martin and Brian Lenair.

Experience the legendary tale of the Titanic like never before with Titanic: An Immersive Voyage. Featuring more than 300 artifacts, life-sized reconstructed rooms, 3D views, video animations, and state-of-the-art technology, this immersive experience offers a riveting and emotional journey through one of history’s most iconic tragedies. From the ship’s grand construction to its fatal collision with the iceberg, you’ll get to fully immerse yourself in the Titanic's captivating story. Wander through its lavish halls, watch the iceberg appear, and relive the ship’s dramatic final moments in an immersive gallery. Plus, with a virtual reality exploration of the Titanic’s wreck site more than 2.5 miles deep into the ocean, it promises to be a retelling of the Titanic story like no other.

Maryland Art Place, in partnership with Hotel Indigo Baltimore, is pleased to present a solo exhibition by Maryland-based artist, Roo Taylor. The exhibition is on view at Hotel Indigo, located at 24 West Franklin St. from April 17 - July 17.
A public reception will take place on Wednesday, April 22 from 5 PM to 7 PM.

About the Artist:
Roo Taylor (b. 2003) is a Baltimore-based artist originally from Denver, Colorado. She earned her BFA from the Maryland Institute College of Art (MICA) and is currently a resident artist at the Creative Alliance in Baltimore. Working primarily with high-flow acrylic paint and acrylic ink, Taylor uses transparency and layered color to create abstract landscapes. Her work explores the interplay between the natural world and human relationships, exploring the emotional and atmospheric depth through fluid, natural spaces. Her artwork has been exhibited in galleries across Baltimore, Denver and New York, as well as internationally at the Aichi Prefectural Museum of Art in Japan.

Using light and color as metaphors for energy, Roo Taylor’s work traces the through lines between the natural world and human connection. Rooted in a deep reverence for transparency and hue, each piece is meant to reflect on the connection between feeling and form. Taylor invites viewers to experience emotional resonance as something inherently natural, alive, layered, and luminous.

Contemporary Porcelain: From Tradition to Innovation explores the enduring legacy of porcelain while showcasing the bold ways artists are redefining this historic material today. Long celebrated for its refinement, translucency, and technical precision, porcelain has deep roots in global traditions.

Featuring works by contemporary ceramic artists, the exhibition highlights porcelain’s remarkable versatility. This exhibition invites viewers to reconsider what porcelain can be, and how tradition can spark transformation rather than limit it.

The Community Arts Spring Showcase celebrates the creativity, voices, and shared experiences of our community.

"Solo Aging is not about aging unsupported—it is about aging intentionally.

Solo Aging Together is a four-session group experience focused on intentional planning and informed decision-making for aging independently. Through guided conversation and reflection, you will:
◦Clarify what “solo aging” means in your own life.
◦Explore how to plan proactively without a default caregiver.
◦Develop practical strategies for identifying and connecting with appropriate professional services and assistance.
◦Strengthen trusted personal relationships and informal support network.

Food Addicts in Recovery Anonymous (FA) is a free Twelve Step recovery program for anyone suffering from food obsession, overeating, under-eating, bulimia or other food-related issues. Weekly meetings every Monday from 7:00-8:30 pm at Christ Episcopal Church, 6800 Oakland Mills Road, Columbia. All are welcome.
