Solstice Saturday

Solstice Saturday
Join us at the Smithsonian National Museum of African American History and Culture on June 22, 2024, for an extraordinary summer celebration. This special evening marks the grand finale of our groundbreaking exhibition, Afrofuturism: A History of Black Futures, which will close in August.
Celebrate the first Saturday of summer, Solstice Saturday, with us as we embark on a cosmic journey that explores space adventures and the astronomical wonders of the solstice. This unique event not only highlights the visionary elements of Afrofuturism but also pays tribute to the vibrant legacies of Black music and Queer artists, aligning with the spirited narratives of Black Music Month and Pride Month.
Prepare to be transported through an Afrofuturist lens as the Museum stays open until 10:00 PM. We will honor the revolutionary contributions of Black and Queer musicians and artists who have reshaped our cultural landscape. The day promises a vibrant blend of music, activities, and celebration, culminating in an enriching night of education, entertainment, and empowerment.
