Paddle Up! “Dragons” Return to Baltimore
Baltimore Dragon Boat Club, Volo Sports and Baltimore Peninsula Sponsors Annual Baltimore Dragon Boat Challenge at West Covington Park-Baltimore Peninsula on June 28, 2025

“Dragons” return to Baltimore on Saturday, June 28 with the Baltimore Dragon Boat Challenge, hosted by the Baltimore Dragon Boat Club, Volo Sports and Baltimore Peninsula, at a new location - West Covington Park/Baltimore Yacht Basin (101 W. Cromwell Street, Baltimore). The event, which begins at 8:00 a.m., features over 21 competitive dragon boat racing teams from Maryland, Pennsylvania, New York, and the District of Columbia competing in 500-meter and 2000-meter races throughout the day in Baltimore’s “middle branch” of the Patapsco River. The heats will be based on best times with teams advancing through a semi-final elimination round. The Baltimore Dragon Boat Challenge is an ERDBA (Eastern Regional Dragon Boat Association) sanctioned race. Admission is free. The mission of the Baltimore Dragon Boat Club is: To promote and develop the sport of dragon boating throughout the Greater Baltimore area, Mid-Atlantic region, and when privileged, throughout other regions of the United States, Canada, and the rest of the globe; To promote community outreach programs, cross-cultural understanding, and corporate team building programs, all with the sport of dragon boating as the central focus; To promote for persons of all ages the development of healthy bodies and spirits through physical activity, and provide a venue for the establishment and growth of friendships and teamwork; And to conduct any and all other activities relating to the above.

The Baltimore Dragon Boat Club practices occur on Wednesdays at 6pm, Fridays at 6 a.m. and Saturdays at 8am, if media is interested in covering ahead of the races. Please check their TeamSnap or MeetUp for additional practice times and details.
