On Monday, WYPR will add 1A to our schedule weekday mornings from 10 a.m. until noon. On Point will move to the slot 1A has been occupying, Monday through Thursday evenings from 8 to 9 p.m.
- Why are we doing this? As of October 5th, On Point will no longer be a two hour-long program. It is reducing its length to one hour, and will no longer take live listener phone calls. We want to have just one program taking that two hour time slot, and On Point will no longer fill it. We are fortunate to have a program as excellent as 1A to fill that gap.
- Why now? On Point is making its change on Monday. Is this a referendum on either show? No. It has always been a happy quandary to have two first-rate talk programs to choose from that were live at the same time, and although we aired On Point live, we still made sure that 1A had a place on our schedule. Now that On Point is shorter, and that the “live” aspect of it is less important, we think it is logical to fill the morning slot with 1A. And On Point, as a one hour program, will fit well into the evening schedule.
We are proud to make both available to Baltimore listeners.
