Annual Ford Lecture: Lessons Through Beauty
Annual Ford Lecture: Lessons Through Beauty
The fourth Mughal ruler of the Indian subcontinent, Emperor Jahangir (1605–1627), was a great patron of the arts. He brought together diverse cultural traditions at his court, where talented artists created beautiful illustrated books, such as the Gulistan of Sa’di, blending wisdom with stunning visuals.
Join us for a lecture from Navina Najat Haidar, Curator of Islamic Art at the Metropolitan Museum of Art, as she explores illustrations from the Gulistan of Sa’di in the Walters collection, along with other outstanding works created for Emperor Jahangir. Following the lecture and Q&A, we welcome you to enjoy a light reception in the Museum Cafe.
