State Del. Cheryl Glenn resigned Wednesday, effective immediately. Glenn was the chair of the Baltimore City delegation in the House of Delegates and previously led the Legislative Black Caucus in Annapolis.
House Speaker Adrienne Jones announced Glenn’s resignation Thursday morning. Jones said Glenn didn’t give a reason for stepping down.
“She was an effective legislator,” Jones said. “She was involved in her community. She was involved with a lot of in terms of union activities.”
Glenn, who is 68 years old, is a Baltimore native. She has represented East Baltimore in the House of Delegates since 2007. From there, she led the fight to legalize medical marijuana and advocated for the redevelopment of State Center in Baltimore.
No one from Glenn’s office responded to requests for comment. Glenn told The Baltimore Sun she resigned for personal reasons but gave no further detail.
Glenn is the fifth member of the House to resign since the 2019 legislative session ended in April.
