Martin Goldsmith retraces the steps of his grandfather and uncle from their native Germany to their fateful trip aboard a ship full of Jewish refugees trying to escape Hitler's onslaught. Goldsmith is well known to NPR listeners as the host for many years of the classical music program Performance Today. He is now host of Sirius XM’s Symphony Hall.
