Harbor East Whole Foods Opening Postponed (BBJ Story)

The grand opening of the 50,000-square-foot Whole Foods in Harbor East has been postponed indefinitely amid the ongoing chaos of the novel coronavirus pandemic. 

The current Whole Foods is moving from a smaller store a block away to the Liberty Harbor East building. That store has remained open during the pandemic. The delay comes at a time when supermarkets have become a symbolic life ring over the past week as confirmed cases of COVID-19 spread throughout the state and across the world. In Maryland, markets remain open despite a new normal of chaos and uncertainty in everyday life. They are staying stocked as best they can — despite a run by customers on toilet paper, eggs and cleaning supplies — and trying to keep people safe from the spread of the virus.
