Orioles Attendance Hits All Time Low (BBJ Story)

The Baltimore Business Journal

The average crowd at an Orioles home game this season only filled a little more than a third of the stands. The team's attendance hit new lows in 2019, with an average 16,347 spectators per game in Baltimore — 36% of capacity at the 45,971-seat Oriole Park at Camden Yards.

In all, 1,307,807 people attended home games during the 2019 season, a 16.4% decrease compared with 2018, which averaged 20,053 fans per game. This year's attendance was the worst in the 27-year history of the ballpark. The numbers come as the Orioles work to rebuild a team that finished last year with the worst record in Major League Baseball. This year they haven't fared much better, ranking last in the American League East and second-to-last in the entire league, ahead of the Detroit Tigers, as of Wednesday afternoon. The Orioles are 51-106 as of Wednesday.
