Frederick-based companies hoping to offer medical cannabis-infused beer (BBJ Story)

Two Frederick-based companies are hoping to break new ground with Maryland's first medical cannabis-infused beer. 

Flying Dog Brewery and Green Leaf Medical Cannabis are working together to release a non-alcoholic India Pale Ale, called Hop Chronic, by summer 2019. But first, the companies will need to get approval from the Maryland Medical Cannabis Commission. That could prove to be a challenge as regulations around cannabis-infused foods or drinks, known as edibles, are a bit of a gray area in the state. Currently Maryland businesses are prohibited from producing edibles, although some products such as iced teas, mints and other "quasi-edible" products have been approved by the commission.
