Loyola Blakefield Launches Capital Campaign (BBJ Story)

The Baltimore Business Journal

Loyola Blakefield has launched the public phase of a $27 million capital campaign, the largest fundraising goal in the 166-year history of the Catholic boys' school. The initiative, dubbed "Ignite: The Campaign for Loyola Blakefield," has already secured $23 million in commitments during a silent fundraising phase.

A majority of the money will fund a new 50,000-square-foot academic building for students in grades 6-8. The building will include a learning commons, art studio, and laboratories for cyber science and robotics. Loyola said a construction timeline for the project will be established once fundraising goals are met.

The campaign will also support the school's endowment. T. Rowe Price Group Inc. CEO Bill Stromberg, a 1978 graduate of Loyola, is co-chairing the campaign along with Legg Mason Inc. CEO Joseph A. Sullivan. The two have children who graduated from Loyola.
