Forecast of Freezing Rain Prompts School Delays and Closures (January 12, 2015)

A Freezing Rain Advisory is in effect through 9am, with less than a tenth of an inch of ice possible before temperatures rise and this morning’s mix of rain and freezing rain becomes all rain.

UPDATE 8:08am: Baltimore County's Hereford Zone schools are CLOSED. Washington County's Hancock Schools are CLOSED. Also CLOSEDCarroll County SchoolsFrederick County Schools, and Harford County Schools.

A two-hour delay is in effect for schools in Baltimore City and Baltimore County's non-Hereford Zone schools.

Also opening two hours late are schools in: Anne Arundel County, Caroline County,Cecil County, Howard County, Montgomery County, Prince George’s County, and Washington County (the non-Hancock schools, that is).

And there’s a 90 minute delay for schools in: Queen Anne’s Countyand Talbot County.

Federal workers in the DC area are also on a two hour delay with the option for unscheduled leave or telework.

And many colleges and universities are changing their schedules as well; be sure to call ahead before you attempt to brave the roads. And if you do, be sure to drive slowly and cautiously.
