Potentially Record Breaking Summer at the Box Office - 5/4/15

The weekend is over.  One of the things that you may have done with you moments of leisure is to take in a movie.  You would not have been alone – movies are doing bustling business.  Take Universal Picture’s Furious Seven as an example.  According to Bloomberg, the latest picture in the Fast and Furious Series has achieve several records since its debut about a month ago, including the biggest ever opening for April and the year.

It is twenty fifteen’s top grossing release and became the fastest picture to reach one billion dollars worldwide according to Universal.  It is the highest grossing Universal film in the studio’s one hundred and three years of operations.  According to industry analysts, the film may help to spark a record this summer in the U.S., which typically accounts for forty percent of annual ticket sales.

This could be the first summer to exceed the five billion dollar mark.  That would exceed twenty thirteen’s record of four point seven five billion dollars.  Another likely blockbuster is Walt Disney’s Avengers:  Age of Ultron.  Other leading revenue generators to come out earlier this year are Paul Blart: Mall Cop Two and the horror film Unfriended.
