Carter G. Woodson is publicly known as the “Father of Black History” in America. Woodson was born on December 18, 1875 and he passed away on April 3, 1950 in Washington, DC. Carter G. Woodson is credited to being responsible for the establishment of Black History Week in the United States. Black History Week later grew into Black History Month in February that is recognized and celebrated across the nation and throughout the world.
