The Good News - Carter G. Woodson

Carter G. Woodson is publicly known as the “Father of Black History” in America. Woodson was born on December 18, 1875 and he passed away on April 3, 1950 in Washington, DC. Carter G. Woodson is credited to being responsible for the establishment of Black History Week in the United States. Black History Week later grew into Black History Month in February that is recognized and celebrated across the nation and throughout the world.

Dr. Chavis is African American civil rights leader and icon, United Church of Christ (UCC) ordained minister, author, journalist, organic chemist, environmentalist, global entrepreneur, and currently President and CEO of the National Newspaper Publishers Association (NNPA) based in Washington, DC since 2014.
