Midday with Dan Rodricks

Pirates, Assassins and Corrupt Politicians

Your browser doesn’t support HTML5 audio

We take a look at three unique pieces of Maryland history: Greg Bartles of the Maryland Department of Natural Resources, joins us to talk about the oyster pirates who ravaged the Chesapeake Bay and how Maryland responded. Tom Fink, president of the Junius Booth Society, tells us about the Maryland roots of John Wilkes Booth, the infamous actor who assassinated President Lincoln. Finally, attorney Lee Baylin, former courts reporter for The Baltimore Evening Sun, talks about Maryland’s scandalous 1970s, when two county executives, a state's attorney, a governor and former governor all became mired in political corruption cases.
