Selling Baltimore's Public Housing

Last week, Baltimore Housing Authority officials announced a plan to sell 22 of the agency's housing complexes – about 40 percent of the agency's remaining inventory -- to private developers. Officials claim tenants will be mostly unaffected by the sale. However, housing advocates are concerned that it will cause rents to rise and further disenfranchise Baltimore's poor in an already-tight market for affordable housing. We talk with Baltimore Housing Commissioner Paul Graziano and with long-time housing advocate and social worker Jeff Singer.
