Singer-songwriter ellen cherry has a new project she’s premiering at the Creative Alliance. Portraits in Song features the narratives of 11 women.
The portraits range from stories inspired by historical figures to fictional futuristic characters. Cherry says the purpose of the project is to “turn our gaze away from imposed beauty standards and instead see women as powerful thinkers and doers.”
Cherry commissioned visual artist Liz Downing to create portraits of the women that will be projected during the performance.
Portraits in Song will premiere on Saturday March, 26th at the Creative Alliance. The show starts at 8pm.
