The trials of the officers accused in the death of Freddie Gray resume in about a month when police officer Brian Rice becomes the second person to face charges in this controversial and complicated case. The Appeals Court has ruled that officer William Porter must testify in Rice’s trial, as well as the trials of the other four officers, despite the fact that Porter’s own trial ended with a hung jury. Our legal eagles, Baltimore attorney Ed Smith and University of Baltimore associate professor of law David Jaros, join Tom in Studio A with their insights into what the Appeals Court ruling means for the prosecution and the defense, and the precedents it sets for other cases moving forward.
