In her new book, Loyola University Maryland assistant professor Kaye Wise Whitehead has collected letters and poems she has written to her two sons, Kofi and Amir. In the wake of the shootings of African American men and boys in Ferguson, Cleveland, Staten Island and elsewhere, the book couldn’t be more timely, or more poignant. It’s called "Letters to My Black Sons: Raising Boys in a Post-Racial America." Tom Hall talks with Dr. Whitehead about the book.
Dr. Whitehead will be speaking about her book on Sunday afternoon at 4:00 at the Loyola Notre Dame Library, where an exhibition of her letters will be on display.
