With the events in Ferguson, MS, Cleveland, OH and Staten Island, NY, as well as the on-going tension between police and many citizens of color here in MD, many people have called for a deeper conversation about race in the United States. This morning, we re-visit one such conversation we had earlier this year, or more precisely, a conversation about how to have a conversation about race. Jay Smooth hosts “The Underground Railroad,” on W-B-A-I Radio, New York’s longest running hip hop show, as well as a video blog called “Ill Doctrine.” In 2008, he released a video called “How to Tell Someone They Sound Racist.” Tom spoke with him in March.
