Hollywood has its Oscars. Baltimore has its Rubies. The city also has its Sondheim...and its Baker. We’ve even got one called a Fred. These are but a few of the awards being given annually to artists in the Baltimore metropolitan area.
In the last decade, competitions and awards for artists around Baltimore have proliferated – including two new high-profile prizes just this year. What does this do for art here? Tom Hall speaks with the city’s cultural affairs director and the head of the Greater Baltimore Cultural Alliance.
