In August, listeners learned about Wide Angle Youth Media, a non-profit that teaches Baltimore youth media skills, provides opportunities to tell their own stories, and become engaged with their communities.
Through a partnership with WYPR and with additional MHC-grant support, Wide Angle is training youth producers, who were learning to produce stories about how physical spaces in cities affect both individuals and community. In the fall, students connected via Skype with peers to talk with student counterparts in the Eastern European country of Bulgaria about their lives. Natasha Martin, a 10th grader at Community High School in East Baltimore, tells us what she learned in her conversations with her audio pen pal, Kristina.
