One Maryland One Book: Wandering Books
What connections could be forged if everyone in the state read the same book? Now in its seventh year, The Maryland Humanities Council's One Maryland One Book program encourages discussions across our entire community--from avid readers to reluctant ones.
This year’s selection is the memoir The Distance Between Us by Reyna Grande. MHC's "Wandering Books" promotion leaves copies of the book in public places with a note encouraging the finder to read, review, and then release it again to be captured by another reader. Marie Slaby, the interim manager of the Community & Corporate Partnerships Office of Frederick County Public Libraries, reflects on the impact of MHC's Wandering Books program.
